Hi everybody...

I know, I know - it's Wednesday, September 6th and I've not updated either the this site or video version of The Alamo City Podcast since "Episode #027" on August 21st!

My apologies!

Monday is my usual production day and I've had scheduling conflicts for the past two weeks - Labor day being one of them. Again, I know - excuses, excuses!

So, Lord willing, we'll be back on track by next week with Episode #028!

ANNOUNCEMENT: Yesterday (Monday, July 10th) we "launched" a brand new website - www.alamocitypodcast.com. We're very excited about future possibilities for The Alamo City Podcast!

On the new website, there are links to both the "audio" version and a new "video" version of The Alamo City Podcast.

To help subscribers more easily distinguish between both versions of The Alamo City Podcast, we have re-named the audio version, "The Alamo City Audio Podcast." The video version is named, appropriately enough, "The Alamo City Video Podcast."

Now, the actual "RSS Feed" for The Alamo City Audio Podcast has not changed.

However, due to the name change, some of you may need to re-subscribe to The Alamo City Audio Podcast through iTunes. There are subscription links - one on the right-hand side of this blog and the second is published later in this post.

The Alamo City Podcast - Announcement

Hi everybody.

The Alamo City Podcast is (once again) undergoing some changes.

The first change is that we're in the process of switching over to a different host server - one that will support mpeg-4 video for the new Alamo City Video Podcast. (Yeah!)

The second change is a slight alteration in the format of The Alamo City Audio Podcast - After the next Alamo City Podcast (#016) I will no longer be recording "Intro's" and "Outro's" for the podcast. I will, however, continue to announce the podcast episode number at the beginning of each show.

The third change is really just an addition. Several of you have asked whether or not we will be podcasting the messages from the Alamo City Wednesday Evening Service. Lord willing, beginning in July, we will start podcasting some of the Wednesday Evening messages. More than likely, a separate "feed" will be established to accommodate this podcast. I'll have some more specific information about this in a couple of weeks.

As always, a good way to keep informed about news and future episodes of The Alamo City Podcast is to sign-up to receive free e-mail updates at the top of this page!

Fortunately, the iBook mother board that experienced the "meltdown" was on a recall list from Apple. So, it is currently being repaired!

The Alamo City Podcast - Now Listed in iTunes!

The Alamo City Podcast is now listed on iTunes!

So here's the deal:

The first thing you need to do is make certain that you have downloaded the latest version of iTunes (version 4.9) from Apple. Both Mac and Windows versions exist.

Once you've installed and launched iTunes 4.9, go to the "Music Store" tab listed in the "Source" column.

After you've logged in, look under "Choose Store" on the left and click on "Podcasts."

Scroll down to "Categories" on the left side.

Next click on "Religion & Spirituality" and then "Christianity."

Scroll down until you find The Alamo City Podcast.

Once you find the podcast, just click on the little "subscribe" button.

Just so you'll know, whenever you subscribe to The Alamo City Podcast (or any podcast for that matter) through iTunes, you'll need to confirm your subscription: "Are you sure you want to subscribe to "The Alamo City Podcast"? Click, "Subscribe."

You'll also notice that a new category shows up in your iTunes application called, "Podcasts". There you'll be able to see all of your subscribed podcasts!

Now, in order to check and see if a new Alamo City Podcast is available, you have two options:

(1) - just click the "Update" button in the upper right-hand corner to manually check for updates or, (2) - simply click on "iTunes," then "Preferences," then "Podcasts." Once there you can automate your desired update schedule.

Since we are now officially listed on iTunes - look for the very first Alamo City Podcast this week!

The Alamo City Podcast - Submitted to iTunes

This morning, I submitted The Alamo City Podcast "feed" to iTunes for inclusion in their Podcast Directory!

Apple will evidently review the "feed," determine that it is what it claims to be, and then place it in their Podcast Directory. This may take a few days so either periodically check the blog or the iTunes Podcast Directory. (See instructions here: http://accfpodcast.blogspot.com/2005/08/alamo-city-podcast-coming-soon.html )

In the meantime, you can go ahead and subscribe to The Alamo City Podcast by doing the following:

Over on the right-hand side of the blog, locate the little orange XML "chicklet." (See picture below - but please note that it won't help you to grab the XML "chicklet" on the picture itself - you have to grab the actual "chicklet" over on the right-hand side of the blog. The picture below is just here as an example of what the "chicklet" looks like - and just to confuse you - and to allow me another opportunity to type the word, "chicklet." What a quaint little word. Kinda makes you crave those little pieces of gum, huh?)

Anyway...

If you just click on the "chicklet," you will be taken to the RSS feed page.

But here's what you'll want to do - and I promise, this is a cool and easy way to subscribe:

Fire up iTunes (make certain that you've installed version 4.9 or higher) and then click your mouse on the XML "chicklet." Without releasing the "chicklet," just drag and drop it into iTunes. (You should see a little green "+" sign or an "arrow" whenever you get the "chicklet" over iTunes.)

Then just release your mouse and wha-la... you should be subscribed!

And just so you know - we plan to launch the very first Alamo City Podcast as soon as the listing appears in the iTunes Directory. And there's some great podcast stuff coming, too! I can't wait!

Here's another really cool thing: If you go ahead and subscribe before the listing actually shows up in the iTunes Directory, then whenever the first show of The Alamo City Podcast gets uploaded, it will automatically download to your iTunes application when you update podcast your feeds!

How great is that?!

Then you can transfer the mp3 files to your iPod or other portable mp3 device and you're mobile! No more being tied to your computer to listen to mp3 files!

Podcasting - For His name and fame! Broadcast Radio will never be the same!

Hopefully, you've had an opportunity to listen to August 2nd Alamo City Podcast Commercial by clicking on the entry title, "Commercial: Alamo City Podcast" below.

Although the podcast has yet to launch, please know that content preparation is nearing completion. Continued arrangements are being made to allow you to subscribe to The Alamo City Podcast through iTunes. Once The Alamo City Podcast is listed on iTunes, you'll need to follow the instructions listed below:

(Please check this blog regularly. Once we're listed in the iTunes Podcast Directory, we'll post that news right here!)
